Inspiring 4th Form painting and textiles workshops and a trip to Roche Court...

On Thursday 14th October, the 4th Form artists we treated to a variety of workshops from visiting artists. They had the choice of Textiles, with renown textiles artist, Katy Rundell, Ceramics with local potter, Sas Wright, or mixed media painting with Bruton artist, Colette Woods. There was a real buzz in the studio as the pupils set about their tasks. There were some wonderful outcomes from the morning sessions and all the pupils managed to gain some useful tips and techniques from the artists and learn about their work.

In the afternoon, all 28 pupils got on the minibuses, and we made our way down to Roche Court for our annual trip. It was a glorious day, and once again, the artwork on display did not disappoint. There was plenty to see, with some of the highlights being work from Barbara Hepworth, Barry Flanagan and Peter Randall-Page. The guides engaged the pupils in the artwork, and were able to highlight the materials and processes that they used and the meaning behind the work. All in all it was a very successful outing which will provide the basis for their next piece of work.
