King's Bruton is incredibly proud of the perseverance, commitment, engagement, ambition and determination shown by pupils to achieve fantastic exam results.
This week, we have been able to celebrate the fantastic success of those pupils achieving external examination results this summer. Whilst the results have been incredibly pleasing, we are, above all, delighted with the perseverance, determination and the brilliant approach that pupils took towards assessments after a challenging 18 months.
On Tuesday, we were happy to be able to celebrate the considerable success of the U6th Form leavers, as they received great A-Level and BTEC results. The results that these pupils achieved reflects the incredible work ethic that has been demonstrated throughout their time in the Sixth Form. These pupils have shown superb commitment and engagement throughout their respective courses, despite spending almost 2 terms ‘remote’. I am delighted that so many pupils have gained places at their universities of choice, and that all pupils are now well prepared for the next step of their education.
Pupils in the 5th Form will currently be digesting the great results that they have achieved, having received their grades earlier today. In the same way that pupils sitting A-Levels/ BTECs overcame many challenges, pupils in the 5th Form have also demonstrated real ambition and determination. The way in which many pupils engaged with the support available and approached their assessments was incredibly impressive. Pupils thoroughly deserve the grades that they have achieved and I hope they look to build on the strong foundations that they have put in place.
Whilst this week was about celebrating the success of a very special group of pupils, I also want to thank their teachers for all that they have done to support pupils, especially during the period of school closures. We were incredibly fortunate to be able to offer a full programme of remote learning during the period of school closures, and the engagement by pupils was fantastic. I have no doubt that the commitment, innovation, and creativity showed by teachers during this period helped ensure that pupils were in the strongest position possible when they returned to the classroom.
I am also incredibly grateful for all the support that parents have provided over the last 2 years. Whilst the last 18 months has been challenging for all, I am most grateful for the continued support of parents, especially the support they gave during the lockdowns and periods of remote learning.
The 2021 examination results were very pleasing and rewarded pupils for the hard work that they have put in over the last 2 years. The results achieved, and the destinations of leavers, further demonstrates the success of the vibrant curriculum in place at King’s, and the strength of mixing A-Levels with BTECs. Whilst we have celebrated the success of pupils in both the 5th and U6th Forms, a large number of pupils in the L6th Form also received fantastic AS, EPQ and BTEC grades. These pupils are now in an incredibly strong position as they enter the final year of their respective A-Level/ BTEC courses.
I hope that all pupils enjoy celebrating their success and I look forward to welcoming 5th Form pupils back to the Sixth Form at the start of the Christmas term. I wish those pupils leaving King’s and going on to university, gap years, apprenticeships or employment every success. I have no doubt that all pupils are well prepared for the challenges ahead, and whilst the last 18 months has certainly tested all pupils, they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and the determination they have shown.
In an extraordinarily oversubscribed and competitive year for university places, I am delighted that so many of the departing U6th Form pupils secured places at their firm choice universities. A wide range of destinations were reached with pupils securing places at universities across the country. I am delighted by the individual successes within this, whether it is Medicine at Manchester, Engineering at Edinburgh, Liberal Arts at York, Criminology at Royal Holloway, or one of the many other courses, pupils have found their best fit course and university. The combination of A-Levels and BTECs has once again proved instrumental in allowing pupils to access courses at excellent universities and remain a well-regarded pathway.
Alongside this UK success, we celebrate equally those who have found their fit at European and North American universities. We wish the very best to those who are awaiting decisions from universities in Ireland, as well as those entering straight into career roles or going on gap years. The U6th Form leavers have been a pleasure to support in following their ambitions this year and I wish them every success for the future.
I am delighted with our A-Level, BTEC and GCSE examination results after such a strange, challenging year. These results reflect so much hard work from our pupils and incredible professionalism from our teaching staff, as well as illustrating the success of our remote teaching and learning.
