Life at King's Community

The Headmaster looks forward with optimism and confidence...

It was a strange, but uplifting experience, for me to welcome all the new pupils and their families to King’s yesterday for the new pupil day before the start of term. I had not addressed a large group of people for 18 months, but our 200-seat theatre was packed with expectant, nervous and excited Third Form pupils and their parents.

It is very exciting to be able to start the new academic year with a degree of normality, although, understandably, everyone is slightly nervous about what the weeks ahead will hold. It seems inevitable that we will have to cope with positive cases of COVID within the School community, but the guidelines are clear, and our Outbreak Management Plan is robust, to enable the School to keep on functioning, with smaller groups of pupils and staff isolating if necessary.

We are all confident that our remote teaching and learning can be switched on immediately for any pupils who cannot be in the School classroom, and I know that we will continue to manage the impact of this pandemic with professionalism and good humour. The boys and girls are in great spirits today as we start this academic year and we can all look forward to this term, despite any challenges that arise, with optimism and confidence.

Floreat Brutonia!
