Concert Music

On Friday 25th June, the Summer Concert was live-streamed from the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall in The Queen Elizabeth Music School.

The Concert consisted of 21 performances given by various year group bubble ensembles, including a few items with two bubbles combined. It was a fantastic evening of music that showcased how hard pupils and staff have worked to maintain ensemble music making during the pandemic.

There were many outstanding performances, but special mention must go to the three U6th Form soloists: Aidan, Sophie and Constance. Aidan performed ‘Easter’ No.1 from Vaughan-Williams famous work Five Mystical Songs, Sophie played the 1st Movement of Neruda’s Trumpet Concerto in E flat and Constance played Czardas by Monti - all three performance with poise, panache and sensitivity. In addition to the larger ensembles such as various Choir, Orchestra and Big Band, there were lots of smaller chamber ensembles too including: Flute Ensemble, Wind Quintet, String Trio and Brass Ensemble. It was a great shame that we were not able to welcome a live audience to the concert, but thank you to all of those who tuned in from the comfort of your own home, we had over 200 viewers!

Congratulations and well done to all involved in making the Summer Concert such a huge success.

Ashley Marshfield - Director of Music
