A Super Day Out for the 3rd Form at Bristol Zoo on their Art & Biology Trip

Biology Art

An active day at Bristol Zoo with our 3rd Form Art and Biology pupils getting up close to the animals with an insightful interactive educational workshop.

Despite heavy downpours our keen artists sketched a range of animals. They overcame the challenges of recording first hand observations through capturing movement and exploring mark making with a focus on patterns, texture and detail.

This trip links with our current 3rd Form animal themed projects where pupils are applying the disciplines of either textiles, printmaking, ceramics, drawing and painting. We are delighted by the pupil responses to our animal photography competition. We are in the process of judging the photographs and are looking forward to sharing the winners entries.

From the Biology perspective, pupils attended an excellent presentation on Feeding Relationships, that not only saw them getting to handle some of the animals, but also improved their understanding of the relationships between the animals and their environments. This links in to the ecology work that they will explore further in both the 3rd and the 4th Forms.

It was a super day that the pupils enjoyed and gained much in both subjects.
