On Wednesday 14th November, the Chapel Choir sang a service of Choral Evensong at Hereford Cathedral.
It was a first visit to Hereford Cathedral for the Chapel Choir and the choir were on good form - music for the service included: Preces and Responses by Smith, Canticles in E Minor by Statham and the anthem Though I Speak With The Tongues of Men by Bairstow. The Chapel Choir sang with clarity and the Dean was most complimentary about the quality of the singing. The singing of Psalm 67 to a beautiful chant by Howells in B Flat Minor was impressive, with careful attention to dynamics and diction. The highlight of the service for me was the anthem, with its changing character throughout the setting of the text that the choir handled admirably and with conviction. Well done to all involved, but particular thanks and congratulations to Clara, Kiara and Emma who all performed short solos within the setting of the canticles. Some photos from the service of Choral Evensong can be seen below.
