Chemistry Academic Events

The first Sherborne Chemistry Symposium of the year was held on Monday evening. The symposium was attended by Clayesmore, Leweston, Millfield and Sherborne Girls and Boys Schools.

The talks, given by 6th Form Chemistry pupils, covered a variety of informative and cutting edge developments in chemistry, such as the use and health benefits of tumeric, sugar addiction, fungal decomposition of microplastics, edible gel membranes that could spell the end of single use plastics (delivered by OB Alex) and biodegradable polymers. The second talk of the evening was delivered by Emma from King's entitled 'Sugars In Space', which detailed how carbohydrates formed in space and on the early earth. Thanks to Sherborne Girls School for hosting this event.
