Johnny & Heydar gave an interesting talk about explosives at the Chemistry Symposium...

On Monday evening, 26th September, the King’s Sixth Form Chemists took part in the first live Chemistry Symposium, since the Easter term of 2020, at Sherborne Girls. It was a real pleasure to back taking part in person after more than 2 years of online symposia.

Our very own Heydar and Johnny were up first with an interesting and well researched presentation on explosives, informing us of the history and chemistry of explosives such as Nitro-Glycerine, Lead Azide and Mercury Fulminate amongst others. There were also intriguing presentations from pupils from Sherborne Girls, Millfield School, Sherborne School and Clayesmore School on subjects as diverse as Kombucha, Opioid Addiction, Green Chemistry and “The Woman with the Toxic Blood”. The evening was also attended by Leweston School and The Gryphon School and a great time was had by all.
