An impressive King's Bruton CCF Biennial Inspection...

King’s Bruton CCF celebrated our first Biennial Inspection since 2019, when Commander James Dible, RNAS Yeovilton came to inspect. The Commander inspected the Royal Navy and Army Sections on the Memorial Hall Lawn, and then the Military Band in front of the Memorial Hall. Cadets looked very smart and much boot polishing had gone on. King’s Bruton BTEC Hospitality pupils served a fabulous lunch to invited guests, staff officers and senior NCOS in the John Davie Room.

The afternoon activities saw the Commander visit the Army Recruits who were undertaking battlefield first aid, paintball patrolling and basic fieldcraft. The Advanced Infantry were able to demonstrate their military skills in “Exercise Red Kite” which involved a section attack and a snap ambush. The Royal Navy Cadets were able to show their navigational skills on land, but also their raft building skills, emergency stretcher skills and flag communications. The Inspection came to a close with the traditional Royal Navy vs Army Gun Run Challenge. Both teams performed exceedingly well showing great teamwork, but the Army retained the trophy by pipping the Royal Navy by just three seconds.

Commander Dible was then able to finish his inspection by watching the fantastic King’s Bruton Military Band Beating the Retreat in Old House Yard. A wonderful day, that demonstrated to Commander Dible what King’s Bruton CCF achieve on their Friday afternoons throughout the school year.
