On Sunday 14th May, twelve pupils took part in the inaugural King’s Bruton Surf Trip down to Perranporth, Cornwall.
The trip was run by the award winning surf school, Ticket To Ride and they certainly did not disappoint. The two surf instructors were excellent, separating the pupils into two groups to cater for their individual needs and previous experience. The weather was on our side; sunshine and 4-5ft waves - the perfect combination. The twelve pupils were quickly given wetsuits and boards, followed by being given a safety briefing and rundown of the basic skills, before setting off into the water. The instructors were in the water supervising with two further land-based lessons where they could correct and advise the pupils.
It was a fantastic trip, with superb tuition. The next step is the Independent Schools Surf Championships in October. An album of photos from the day can be seen below.
