Our 3rd Form (South) artists had a fantastic gallery visit to Hauser & Wirth to experience first-hand the latest exhibition,  ‘An Uncommon Thread’.

This latest instalment features 10 contemporary artists living and working in the UK. The group exhibition highlights the transformative power of unconventional mediums in evoking personal and collective memories.

Our pupils had the opportunity to explore, engage and select their favourite artworks to kick start an indepth artist investigation with the inspiring H&W Learning Co-ordinator, Eleanor, to help guide our pupils and enrich their experience.

As we toured the exhibition recording our highlights, we encountered plenty of discussion points and a chance to uncover key themes. We were able to identify individual investigations of identity, tradition, nature, fantasy and the environment, as the artists invite viewers to engage with the rich stories woven into each work.

By the end of the gallery tour, our pupils could identify their own highlights and recall their own personal encounters with works that resonated with themselves. We are looking forward to continuing our series of gallery visits in the coming weeks as this exhibition is a must see!
