An exciting week of cricket at King's Bruton...

Tuesday saw the 1st XI host Maryleborne Cricket Club (MCC) in the annual showcase fixture of the term. The MCC called correctly at the toss and elected to bat first. Early pressure from Max and Ethan saw the MCC reach 97-7 at lunch. Ronnie and James clinched the final few wickets quickly after the break as the MCC were all out for 103. King’s Bruton rebuilt well following early wickets. 4th Form pupil, Oliver, the pick of the batsman with a fine 62 not out. Oliver also picked up the Spirit of Cricket Award for his contribution. King’s making a historic victory by 2 wickets.

With the rain affecting all away fixtures against Blundell's School on Saturday, all Home fixtures remained unchanged.

The 1st XI won the toss and made the positive decision bat first. Oliver set a good platform for the side with a well made 26 before  Captain, Ronnie accelerated away with a fine 82 not out off just 42 balls supported well by Ben who made his way to a well worked half century. King’s Bruton posted 204 for 3 off their 30 Overs. Early wickets from Ethan restricted Blundell's top order and Oliver finished with 3 wickets for just 25 runs from his 6 overs. Blundell's were unable to get over the line and King’s continued their good start to the season with a 67 run victory!

The Junior U15As played out a thriller that went down to the final over. King’s had to rebuild after the loss of early wickets but a very fine half century from George led to King’s posting 117 off their 20 overs. Blundell's crept over the line on the final ball of the game to secure a narrow victory.

The Junior U15Bs won convincingly by 8 wickets chasing Blundell's score of 90 inside 14 overs. Euan made a fine 27 not out whilst Otto was awarded Player of the Match his 2 wickets for 9 runs.

The U15Cs were unable back up their bowling display in the field and allowed Blundell's to many chances. Eventually falling just short of their opposition. Alisdair named Player of the Match.

An exciting week ahead for Cricket at King’s Bruton. The 1st XI host Mount Kelly School in Round 2 of the National Schools T20 whilst the Junior U15As host King’s College Taunton in Round 1 of the ECB National T20 on Thursday. The week finishes with a block fixture for both Boys’ and Girls’ against Bryanston School.
