A nail-biting, no quarter given, hard fought Lyon House charity dodgeball competition...

There were 8 teams taking part in the 3rd Annual Lyon House Charity Dodgeball competition and the afternoon was full of drama, as well as a lot of fun for all involved. Notable performances from The “Priory Pack” who lost to “The Dodgedogs of War” in the Plate Final. Player of the tournament must go to the Headmaster, who performed an instinctive and crucial catch against The Dodgedogs, to win their match and propel the Staff Team (The Artful Dodgers) into the final, against a New House team who were joined by Wellesley.

The Final was a nail-biting and hard-fought affair, with no quarter given by both teams. Unfortunately, “New/Wellesley” proved too strong for The Artful Dodgers and they lifted the Dodgeball Trophy with pride and with a real sense of achievement. To have faced the might of Mr Eriksson, Mr Spenser-Underhill, Mrs and Mr Kingstone, Miss Russell, Mrs Griffiths, Mrs Croft and Mr Wilmshurst is no mean feat.  Huge thanks to Julie Paul and Mrs Ashford (Alex’s Mum) for producing mountains of waffles for the hungry participants. The event raised over £150 for this term’s charity, Horatio’s Garden and was the perfect Sunday activity, in the midst of the storm raging outside.

Malcolm Jeffrey - Lyon Housemaster
