6^th Form pupils enjoyed a presentation from the Project Trust...

For those seeking a truly immersive, worthwhile and challenging gap year volunteering scheme, it is hard to beat the opportunities offered by Project Trust. Kat, representing the organisation and a previous volunteer, spoke to a group of King’s 6^th Form pupils on Monday evening during 1^st prep, sharing her own experience and the opportunities with Project Trust. The opportunities are not for the fainthearted! 8 or 12 months, often in remote communities where English is not normally the first language, and with just one other volunteer, is significantly more demanding than most gap year volunteering roles, which typically last between 2 weeks and 2 months. But that extended time allows for a much more worthwhile impact on the local host community and for pupils to setup their own initiatives. In addition, the personal development gained from such immersion is immeasurable, and participants frequently come back changed for the better.

The questions from King’s pupils were excellent - clearly engaged by the opportunities on offer and not perturbed by the challenge which was represented. Who knows, perhaps in a year and a half we’ll be writing a news article on a King’s pupil’s year with Project Trust? Watch this space!
