High spirits and determination for the Ten Tors teams on Dartmoor...
As the temperature once more started to drop, the Ten Tors aspirants headed to Dartmoor. This time they pitched their tents in Okehampton training camp and prepared themselves for a chilly night. 0530hrs starts, no longer phase the teams, and they got up, cracked the frost from their tents and prepared themselves a hot breakfast and a drink in preparation for the day ahead.
Walking up towards the first summit of the day, the teams were greeted with a spectacular sunrise, and although the temperature with wind chill remained around zero all day, the teams soldiered on with high spirits. At this stage of their training, more responsibility is passed to the pupils, for navigation, rest stops, and generally looking out for each other. Pleasingly, team cohesion is excellent and bodes well for the next training event in 2 weeks time, when the teams will become completely independent from the staff as they complete their final preparations for the event.
