King's Bruton pupils start packing the School in a Bag rucksacks for Ukrainian children...

To the soundtrack of the Kalush Orchestra, 18 wonderful pupils and I, had the privilege of packing rucksacks for Ukraine, on Tuesday 17th May. Luke Simon, the founder of School in a Bag (SiaB), came in to instruct us, and between us all we formed a nifty production line, packing the items in a specific way to keep the weight close to the children’s backs (Luke told us the record SiaB journey to school stands at 13 miles each way, so children need weight to be distributed close to their backs, to prevent injury). We were impressed at the thought that had gone into the design and contents of the bag and items, especially the uber-cool lunchboxes!

So far, we have raised enough money to send 309 bags to Ukrainian children, though we only had time to pack 100, ourselves. Thank you for all your kind generosity; it’s not too late to donate to this worthy cause, should you so wish.
