The opening edition of ‘The Bridge’.
The International Committee, made up of a wonderful cross-section of the nationalities present at King’s, meets last thing on a Friday afternoon to exchange experiences, ideas, laughs and, of course, cake. How privileged are we to have Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, German, Uzbek, French and Bhutanese all honouring our language, our culture and above all, our School? Let them be a lesson to us all in courage, flexibility and cultural openness.
The concept of 'The Bridge' was the pupils’ idea and the fruit of lots of discussion in English, writing, correcting and editing. A very special contribution has been made by Elli C who, as an English national but living abroad, has represented the half-way house of the experience of living cultural diversity. The name ‘The Bridge’ – apart from the clear reference to the historical Bruton icon, sums up the international pupils’ ongoing effort to do just that - bridge the gaps between cultures. Going out to Houses and Tutor groups, we hope that our Newsletter will be enjoyed by all staff and pupils so they can get an idea of the international pupil experience, do the quiz, and… who can resist a word search?
Next edition coming soon.
