Exam success for our international pupils...

Our new international pupils have started the Christmas Term, and we are delighted to accompany these courageous young people on their journey through the school year at an English boarding school. We know on arrival, there might have been a few fears and an inevitable dose of exhaustion as they negotiate their daily lives and learning in another language, but looking back at the successes of the previous cohort is always comforting as it is proof of just how much the international pupils achieve during their time at King’s.

The IGCSE English as a Second Language exam results were very satisfactory with an average grade of 5.5. All pupils hit their target grades and, regarding their English, are in a very good position to begin their Sixth Form studies.

In June, two of our Spanish pupils, Gonzalo and Ana, sat the Cambridge First (B2 Level), and Emil from Germany sat the Advanced exam. These exams prove the levels the learner has reached in all four of the skills – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening and the ability to use both informal and academic language in various contexts. All three of these pupils can be proud of their results and all three achieved the target grades. The improvement in their use of conversational English and academic language during the course of the School year was remarkable, and their confidence bolstered.
