The Spring Concert Was A Great Success With Many Toe-Tapping Performances

The Spring Concert was a great success. Hetta opened the concert with a performance of the 3rd movement from Crusell’s 'Clarinet Concerto No. 2'.

Hetta has a lovely silky tone, her delicate phrasing brought the piece to life. This was followed by Clara who played the 2nd movement from Mozart’s 'Concerto in Bb for Bassoon'. Although the bassoon may not be the most famous solo instrument this piece of work is beautiful; Clara’s attention to phrasing and articulation was excellent.

All three choirs performed as did the Military Band, Brass & Percussion Ensemble and the String Quartet, however it was the Wind Quintet which stood out for me. They played Arnold’s 'Sea Shanty No.1'. This is a really tricky piece to perform, lots of interplay between the instruments with difficult runs and sudden changes in dynamics, the quintet were outstanding. A video and photo album from the concert can be seen below.

My congratulations to all involved.
