Harvest Thanksgiving Service Sees School Donate Stacks Of Food To CAP

Chaplaincy Charity

King's held its first Harvest Service of Thanksgiving on Wednesday in Chapel.

The idea of the service was twofold: firstly to help us be more thankful to God for all the good gifts he generously provides us with at King's through the outstanding food we enjoy in the Dining Hall. Secondly, to get us to mirror that generosity by donating food to the local CAP (Christians Against Poverty) food bank in Yeovil. All seven houses each donated two ginormous boxes full of food donations; Steve Hart from CAP was bowled over by the scale of the School's generosity! Steve shared with us the amazing work that CAP does and he helped open our eyes to the poverty that sadly exists so close to our community in Bruton. We also considered the great news of Psalm 65 and took time to hear from Tony the Head Chef and Debra the Catering Manager so that we could get a better appreciation for the abundance of food we enjoy every day at King's and the tireless work of the Catering Department who make it all possible. A video of the food donated to CAP in Yeovil can be seen below!
