Leavers' Concert Celebrates Musicians' Rich Talent

Concert Music

The Leavers’ Concert was as always tinged with a little sadness as we say "goodbye" to young musicians with whom we’ve worked with for the last five years.

This year there were only five musicians performing but between them they held eight Grade VIIIs and a diploma; it’s an indication of their achievements and perhaps gives the reader an understanding of the level of performance. Abagael opened the concert, she sung I Can’t Make You Love Me. Abs has a lovely rich voice, I think that she is at her best singing in this style. Charlotte sang Think of Me, Charlotte has a beautiful high register, she makes a lovely sound. Holly played Cockcroft’s Ku Ku, if you don’t know this piece google it -Holly has incredible technique, she simply took our breath away. Tom performed a composition of his own, I am going to really miss his marimba playing, he creates a sense of “event” whenever he performs. Ella sang Bernstein’s saucy I Can Cook Too which brought tears to my eyes (of laughter). The Leavers’ Concert is less about the performance and more about celebrating these young musicians talents, we will miss them terribly and wish them great success and happiness for the future. My congratulations to them all. A video of the concert can be seen below alongside an album of photos from the evening.
