In a clear mark of the increasing ambition and awareness of global opportunities, King’s Sixth Form pupils are exploring further afield as they look for the next step in the education. Evidence of this wider search was clear from the many pupils that attended the European Universities visit on Monday.
King’s was pleased to welcome leading universities from across Europe, providing the opportunity for pupils to talk to admissions officers and representatives and gain a perspective of the potential available to them. Representatives from the IE University (Spain), Bocconi (Italy), Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (Switzerland), Carl Benz School of Engineering (part of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany) and MODUL University (Austria) were on hand to offer advice on their courses, graduate prospects, entry requirements, applications and university life, with further insights offered from the experience of David from Hawkins Global Education.
Head of Sixth Form, Will Daws, commented: “I am delighted both in the calibre and helpfulness of the universities represented, but also in the insightful questions and openness of the pupils, from 5th and 6th Form pupils as well as staff and parents that attended. It is essential for pupils to find the right fit for them in their next steps beyond King’s, and exposure to leading overseas universities alongside exploration of British universities is a key step in enabling them to have a wider picture of the opportunities open to them. This event was an important one in our ongoing programme of advice and information for pupils, with the next major event for the diaries being the King’s Higher Education and Future Opportunities Fair on June 18th, 3pm to 6pm.” A tweet containing some photos from the fair can be seen below.
