On Friday, we were treated to a delightful evening of song, in what was our second Vocal Concert of the term, writes David Gorodi, Director of Music.
There were many excellent performances, I was really impressed by the 3rd Form in particular. It’s difficult to pick just a few highlights as I really enjoyed every moment. However I thought Flo sang brilliantly, she performed Faure’s Pie Jesu - her upper register was sparkling! Rosie performed Sebben’ Crudele by Caldara; I knew Rosie had a good voice but this was the best that I’ve heard from her so far, there were one or two moments of real musical maturity, she produces a lovely sound which the acoustics of the Memorial Hall helped to show off! Juliette sang Le Secret by Faure, she produced a wonderful sound capturing the mood of this piece brilliantly. Ed performed When I Was A Lad from HMS Pinafore, I really enjoyed this performance, Ed has a great sense of humour. Amelia brought the concert to an end with Loesser’s If I Were A Bell. Amelia brought this piece to life with real characterful singing; an excellent end to a very good concert, my congratulations to all involved. An album of photos from the evening can be seen below.
