Dynamic & Exciting Brass & Percussion Concert

Music Concert

The Brass and Percussion concert was as expected – very loud! David Gorodi, Director of Music, reports on this concert brimming with talent.

Freddie was our first soloist, he played Tom Sawyer by Rush which used to be one of my favourite bands. My other highlights were Alfie playing Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off, Alfie is developing a really good rounded sound on the trombone. Callum played Jacob’s Hornpipe on the tuba, again the quality of his sound was excellent! My favourite performances on the trumpet were from Tom who captured the mood of Dvorak’s Humoresque really well, his lower register sounded rich and secure. I also really enjoyed Joe's performance, he had some lovely phrasing and there was attention to dynamics. The Percussion Group's performance of Pirates of the Caribbean was excellent, some really tricky passages particularly for Tom, Sam and Felix. The concert was brought to an end by the Brass and Percussion Group playing Gonna’ Fly Now from Rocky, a great finale to a very successful evening. An album of photos from the concert can be seen below.
