On Friday morning, after one last kit check at school, twelve excited yet nervous pupils packed their rucksacks and headed down to Dartmoor to attend this year’s Ten Tors event.
On arrival, the two teams of six, headed straight up to the kit hanging area to have their rucksacks checked by the army and volunteers to make sure that they were fully equipped for the event. On Saturday morning at 7am the Army's big guns fired, 2500 pupils made their way to their first tor. It was tense following the updates on the Ten Tors website, especially as the updates were slow to come in. Amazingly, by the end of the first day, Team A had camped at Tor Seven and Team B at Tor Eight, thus breaking the back of the challenge. On the Sunday, the teams each had a shorter walk back to the finish. Incredibly Team B arrived in at 9:48am and Team A come through at noon. All participants need to be congratulated for a magnificent achievement and one which will live long in their memories. An album of photos from the weekend can be seen below.
