On Monday 17th October nineteen 4th Form pupils and staff were lucky enough to visit the fascinating sculpture park at Roche Court, on the outskirts of Salisbury.
Our superb guide navigated us through the wonderful works on display which ranged from the more famous sculptors to the up and coming. The pupils were constantly challenged about the work and asked to give feedback to the group. Indeed, the pupils began to develop acute observational skills which allowed them to gain a greater understanding of the techniques and materials that each of the artists has used, not to mention the messages behind their work too. There was plenty of opportunity to spend time recording their ideas and to draw the pieces which were housed in the beautiful landscape. Towards the end of the visit the pupils were allowed to visit the impressive gallery and artist’s house. All in all, the trip proved to be a wonderful experience for the new GCSE group and one which we hope will live long in their memory. An album of photos from the trip can be viewed below.
