Dr. Alessandro Fregoso very kindly opened up the observatory, showed the scouts how to operate the telescope, including care of it, and how to view the moon.
The scouts loved seeing the craters on the moon and other changes in the moon’s surface. We then looked at pictures of the Hubble Telescope and discussed how to launch it into space as well as the ESO Very Large Telescope in Chile and spoke about how to choose a site for telescopes such as this. The scouts thoroughly enjoyed the evening and our thanks go to Dr. Fregoso for planning such an interactive and interesting session.
