Pupils were generous in their support of the Brue Larder at our Harvest Service...

Each of our Houses delivered to the service many boxes of food donations that pupils had brought in from the exeat weekend. These food donations will be checked, sorted and then passed on to the Brue Larder, a local foodbank based in Bruton, next door to the School. This foodbank supports many individuals and families in Bruton and the surrounding villages who struggle to afford even the basics of food. In previous years, our donations have kept the foodbank stocked through until February. Judging by the quantities, I am confident that this year’s donations will do likewise.

Our Harvest Service also saw us pause to reflect on 2 Corinthians chapter 9 in the Bible which reminds us of God’s goodness shown towards us - he daily gives us food to enjoy. God gives us loads: food, drink, community, shelter, security, and best of all salvation. At this time of year when harvests have just been gathered in (as many of our pupils from farming families will attest to), it’s great to pause and remember God’s goodness to us in all the food he provides. It should reset us to give thanks to him. Moreover, as we remember his generosity to us, we should be led to be generous to those in need. Thus, we pondered on this during the service - and it was great to have school prefect, Ronnie, assist me with a light-hearted illustration to demonstrate these epic truths. May we, as a school community, strive to be generous, just as God is generous to us, day in day out. Deo Juvante!
