Steely resolve and determination was needed for the Ten Tors training on Dartmoor...
With a fairly grim weather forecast, the aspirant Ten Tors teams headed to Dartmoor on Saturday 14th January. In squally rain, sleet and snow showers they pitched their tents and settled down in preparation for a 0530hrs reveille the following morning. Sunday morning brought similar weather as they got up, packed their tents, grabbed some breakfast and prepared for the day's walk. They headed out for an arduous walk over saturated and boggy terrain, with the constant squally weather sapping at their energy, but not their morale. The team faced the challenge with steely resolve and determination, honing their map reading skills, and developing their campcraft skills too. Overall, they took away valuable lessons on clothing, equipment, and how to administer themselves in the outdoors. Most importantly, in preparation for the Ten Tors Challenge, they started to learn about real teamwork.
