Geography Educational Trips

On 2nd December, the U6th Form Geography pupils visited Malaby Biogas Plant in Warminster.

This provided an excellent opportunity for the pupils to delve into the world of renewable energy, which is a key component of the ‘Environmental Management’ topic that they study at A-Level. We were lucky enough to be talked through the process of creating energy from organic waste material and be toured around the plant by the owner and operator, Thomas Minter.

Whilst we were there, a waste delivery came in from local supermarkets and we were able to see the kinds of organic material that can be converted into energy in a clean and sustainable way, as well as the whole process in action. Overall, a really successful trip which will provide the pupils with a brilliant example to use and discuss in their summer exams.
