Last weekend, King’s Bruton 35 mile Ten Tors training teams travelled to North Dartmoor for two days of training in preparation for the Ten Tors Challenge in May.
Starting at Okehampton Camp, where the actual event starts and finishes, both groups were in high spirits and the weather was beautiful if a trifle too warm for walking 15 miles across moorland! Both groups navigated well on the Saturday and came off the Moor at Sourton Tor. Overnight camp was eventful with a hungry fox visiting both camp sites and enjoying porridge and croissants intended for the teams!
The walking on Sunday saw both groups heading for Lynch Tor on the western side, before walking across the Moor to Sitaford Tor and to finish at Postbridge. The two days were tough and challenging. Blisters were aplenty, sore shoulders from rucksacks, aching feet but great spirits! Both teams should be justifiably proud of their efforts to walk over 28 miles in two days. We now have one more training weekend before the excitement of the actual event. An album of photos from the weekend can be seen below.
