The L6th Form Business Studies, BTEC Enterprise and BTEC Hospitality pupils were treated to a series of workshops on Saturday by representatives of the globally-renowned Glion and Les Roches International Hospitality Business Management Schools.
The morning started with a masterclass on digital marketing and why it is the key to success in business. This picked up on some of the latest trends and gave a clear insight into the importance of an informed digital marketing strategy for successful businesses. Following this, the pupils enjoyed an interactive session, involving Lego construction, which highlighted the importance of communication and leadership within an enterprise. The draw of Swiss chocolate as a prize for the winning team certainly increased the competition levels in this round!
The key workshop in the morning was a business game centred around a hotel business development. Pupils had to create a hotel concept, given a specific location, bearing in mind many key details, from the type of hotel and facilities on offer, to pricing and much more. They then presented their proposals in their teams before a judging panels and questioning audience. This was a chance to join creativity with business acumen and the teams came up with a range of imaginative ideas in their groups.
Overall, it was an excellent morning, with pupils encouraged to think outside the box and apply their existing business knowledge to the luxury hospitality sector in creative ways. My thanks to Claire, Chris and Fabienne from Les Roches and Glion for delivering these excellent workshops.
