On Saturday night, the Big Band headlined a fantastic evening of Jazz, dancing and food.

The evening started with drinks in the John Davie Room, accompanied by some excellent lounge jazz by Felix on piano. The Jazz Sextet then accompanied dinner, with an array of jazz standards, both traditional and modern. After dinner, the dancing began with the first Big Band set. It was filled with Big Band classics, from ‘Alright, Ok, You Win’ to ‘I Love Being Here with You’. The second set saw the Big Band take on some modern Funk, Soul and Pop, such as Stevie Wonder’s ‘I Wish’ and James Brown’s iconic ‘I Feel Good’.

The pupils all performed incredibly well, particularly our singers and soloists throughout the evening. The evening finished with a rip-roaring rendition of ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’, showcasing all of our fantastic U6th Form pupils for whom this will be the last Swing into Spring.

The Music department would like to congratulate our fantastic band members, and thank all of the staff who helped make the evening such a success.

It was wonderful to see the whole evening come together and to see so many people having a lovely time and enjoying the music. After the success of Swing into Spring, I am looking forward to working on the next King's event - Penny Bird, Events Manager
