Scaling high ropes as tall as the trees and whizzing down the highest hill in Bruton on the zip wire enabled the 3rd Form to relax and have fun with their new friends at King’s on the first Sunday afternoon of the term.
Mill on the Brue instructors commented on the confidence and enthusiasm of the group, illustrated by an eagerness to go first. Some wanted to watch how the others scaled the ladders before making an attempt. I was moved by Mia who failed at her first attempt at the high ropes but put herself forward for a second attempt - she was determined not to be defeated. Encouraged by the year, she made it to the top, exhausted, but quietly pleased that she had conquered her fear. The instructors bellowed instructions to her over the encouraging cries of her team mates.
To keep stamina up, doughnuts and fizz were served before crossing the road and returning to school.
