Drama and Theatre Educational Trips

GCSE Drama pupils enjoyed an engaging, thought-provoking and often humorous performance at the Ustinov Studio, Bath Theatre Royal on Tuesday 30th April.

Theatre Alibi are a fantastic little local company who we have seen on many occasions: they did not disappoint this time. Working in a collaborative, story sharing way, the actors, designers and writer pool ideas in workshops before the play is written, in this case by Daniel Jamieson. “Falling” had clear roots in “Alice in Wonderland”, with 17 year old Alice falling down a collapsed mine shaft in her Cornish garden. The play explored the trauma of a near death experience from both Alice’s and her mother’s perspective; the falling also serving as a metaphor for the fears surrounding a teenager’s imminent departure into the wider world. The relationship between the mother and daughter struck chords with our students, as did the challenging content.

This performance offers splendid focus for upcoming examination responses!
