The RAP Project came to King's Bruton to raise awareness about personal safety issues on and offline...
Allison Havey from The RAP Project spoke to the pupils this week. The RAP Project or Raising Awareness and Prevention Project, provides a variety of presentations to pre-teens, teenagers, young adults, teachers and parents to raise awareness about personal safety issues on and offline. www.therapproject.co.uk. The 3rd and 4th Form had a very engaging talk titled ‘Altered, airbrushed and unrealistic’ which focused on body image, sexting and selfie obsession. Allison had a very impressive presentation style and her content was very relevant to what the pupils have learnt in their PSHEE lessons this year.
The 5th Form did not have a talk due to public examinations, but the 6th Form had a very informative talk titled ‘The Big Leap’ and educated pupils on rape culture, sexual harassment and pornography. Again, the content was very informative and extremely appropriate for all pupils. They also provided some very useful Acronyms which pupils can use in the future. Following the talk, pupils met up in their Joint House Tutor groups for this term (Arion and Blackford, Priory and New, Wellesley and Lyon) and watched some specially selected videos and discussed the idea of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
