Our international pupils enjoyed a cultural trip to London

On Tuesday 28th January, the international pupils went on their cultural outing. To contrast the contemporary world of digital screens and moving images, we chose the Natural History Museum in London as our destination. There, the pupils experienced the spectacular Romanesque architecture of the 19th Century building, purposefully designed to house the vast collections of zoological and geological specimens, which were the collections of wealthy travellers and scientists of the time, including Henry Sloane, and later Charles Darwin.

The pupils had access to hundreds of exhibits ranging from an animatronic, life-sized model of a T-Rex, to the oldest meteorite, to the incredible slice of a 1300-year-old sequoia tree trunk. The treasures of the planet and of space, and the effects of the Anthropocene - the era of man - were visible in thousands of different forms; it was a lot to take in.

After a brief pause for food, we walked to Harrods, a complete contrast from the natural world! The pupils had free time to enjoy the various displays of luxury and human excess. Some even made a purchase!

It was a good day out of school, and it is always a pleasure to organise activities to enrich the experience of our international pupils.
