Virtual Art Exhibition Summer 2022...
We are delighted to share with you our Virtual Summer Art Exhibition. On this page, you will find videos for:
- The A Level Art Exhibition
- The GCSE Art Exhibition
- The Sustainability Art Exhibition
- Dimitri (L6th Form, New House) Wildlife Photographer
This year we have seen the inaugural Sustainability Exhibition, which has been compiled together by our budding 3rd Form artists. Each week of the Spring term, pupils met to talk through their ideas on sustainability, climate change and extinction. It has been an active topic of conversation all year, and King’s Bruton has aspired to, and has been awarded the Eco Schools Green Flag. As part of this, the Gifted and Talented group worked hard during the School months to produce some breathtaking and sensitive work, using a range of different media and processes. The work on display highlights the creativity and variation that we have in the department, and we are immensely proud of what they have achieved. All the work will be displayed again in September as part of the Sustainability Day, we hope that you might be able to come along and see it.
Dimitri - L6th Form New House: Wildlife Photography
I am a wildlife photographer and it’s been my passion over the past few years. I grew up in the New Forest area, and have had access to the natural world all my life, and the local nature reserve has been a catalyst for my photography and interest in birdlife.
The North Solent Nature Reserve is just around the corner from my house, and I go there almost every day, whatever the weather. I go bird watching with my Nikon camera, and I spend a full day looking for interesting subjects to photograph. I am part of the Hampshire Ornithology Society, and this has helped me to join a birdwatching community of likeminded individuals who help me grow my expertise and passion for wildlife. I have shared photos for recent events, such as the Members Day.
I am keen to develop my skills as a bird ringer to help monitor and record the health of the UK bird population. We use a fine mesh net to capture and log, as a harmless well-established practice.
- The logging of the bird information is used by the British Trust for Ornithology, and they can use this to see the rise or decline in bird species, and see whereabouts the bird has travelled through reports.
- The measurements recorded are useful to discover the gender of the birds and they help to determine the age, stages of moulting and wing length.
I am planning to go on a study wildlife conservation at college as it is a true passion for me. I want to study this is because I have been interested in wildlife for so long, and I would like to turn it into my career and do work that can support these declining species.
