Music House Activities and Competitions

Last week saw the first round of the Online Inter-House Music Competition take place.

During these strange times the rules around the competition have been relaxed to broaden the appeal and to encourage as many pupils as possible to get involved. Entrants can perform as a soloist, as part of a House ensemble or even submit an original composition. Each House has voted to select two performances to go through to the final that takes place on Thursday 11th February at 8pm over MS Teams.

We are fortunate to welcome Anthony Palmer as our adjudicator this year. Anthony will be a familiar face to many as our previous Senior Warden at King’s. Anthony also happens to be an accomplished musician and I know he is looking forward to hearing the performances and having the unenviable job of deciding a winning House!

Going through to the final we have the following entries:

Arion:
Constance - solo
Arion House Ensemble

Blackford:
Toby - solo
Jack  - solo

Lyon:
Hugo - solo
Lyon House Ensemble

New:
Dylan - solo
New House Ensemble

Old:
George - solo
Old House Ensemble

Priory:
Elizabeth - solo
Amelia - solo

Wellesley:
Charlotte - solo
Juliette - solo

In addition, there are two guest staff entries! It promises to be a fun evening - well done to all those who took part in the preliminary round and good luck to those representing their House on Thursday evening.

Ashley Marshfield - Director of Music
