Life at King's Wellbeing

King’s has created a new email newsletter for pupils and parents called ‘The King's Spirit’ to boost morale and keep our community smiling.

It will be a regular bulletin which will feature a mixture of staff and pupil posts which could be videos, pictures, poems, diaries, plays, drawings, music, recipes - in fact anything of interest to our community. It could be homemade or something you have found that is interesting or funny. We will even be running inter-house competitions, virtual 5k runs and weekly challenges - Mr Eriksson has already promised a Lands End to John O’Groats challenge when we will all be adding up our week’s steps to see if we have made the distance.

Start to send things in immediately, however, the challenges from staff will take off after the Easter holiday. Simply drop your posts to this email address: [email protected], where items will be vetted by Alison Grant, Deputy Head before being uploaded by Naomi Warren, Marketing Administrator to The King's Spirit email. We hope to post lots of pictures of your pets.

Examples of what we’ll be getting up to includes:

Sport

  • A daily ‘Beat the Teacher’ video shared by one of the King's sports staff. A different member of the sports department will video themselves for each day of the week.
  • Mr Gibbins and Mr Hawley will keep a video journal with healthy active lifestyle advice. The challenges will vary and will be light-hearted using hashtags such as #BeatTheTeacher and #IfMrHawleyCanYouCan etc
  • A weekly school target with screenshots of the number of steps/distance run which pupils/staff can do e.g. Climb Everest, Cycle Land’s End & John O’Groats. Staff/pupils can send in their screenshots and the number of steps will be added up to see if the distance has been achieved.
  • Mr Cahill will do a virtual run where we complete a run at the same time at 10am every Saturday and post a picture which will become a photo montage.
