On Monday afternoon, the U6^th Form Chemistry pupils attended a "Spectroscopy in a Suitcase" workshop at Sherborne Girls School.

The workshop started with pupils deducing the structures of six unknown molecules from their mass spectra. Pupils then ran their own infrared and NMR spectra from which they successfully determined the displayed formulae of several unknown molecules. The afternoon was gripping for all our pupils. Special thanks must go to the three outstanding ambassadors from the University of Bath’s Chemistry Department.
