The Joint Concert with Hazlegrove was a great success writes David Gorodi, Director of Music.
As always my favourite items were the joint performances; the Joint Orchestra played Mars from Holst's Planet Suite, this wasn't a simplified version it was the real deal! A challenging piece of music on several levels was performed brilliantly, it was loud, very loud but also full of passion; some excellent brass playing. The Joint Choir was also superb, I was trying to work out how large the choir was, my best guess is 150; it was great fun singing in such a large ensemble. Of course there were many choirs and ensembles from both Hazlegrove and King's which performed at a very high level; like the Headmaster my favourite moment was another joint performance and it was the Harp Ensemble - simply delightful, like a sprinkling of gold dust! My congratulations to all involved. The Joint Concert was live-streamed as a video on the King's Bruton website - the same video can now be watched below. Photos from the evening can also be viewed beneath the video.
