Music and Drama pupils enjoyed an exciting day of workshops with the British Youth Music Theatre...
It was a great privilege to be able to welcome four representatives from the British Youth Music Theatre to King’s to work with our pupils in a series of Music Theatre and Acting workshops. The creatives included a Matthew Harvey (Musical Director, Composer and Writer), Sarah Schostack (Director) and Steven Moore (Choreographer) who were assisted by Rosa Higgs (BYMT Schools and Pastoral Manager).
It was exciting to be learning music from a newly composed musical called Unbound and on one particular song called From this moment on. The Musical Director added an additional harmony part during the course of the workshop, and the King’s pupils had the opportunity to feed into the creative process. During the afternoon session, the musical and dramatic elements were combined in an exciting conclusion to the series of workshops. The day ended with an informative Q&A session on the world of Music Theatre and the many different areas of expertise required to bring a performance together; the talk also included details regarding the courses and performances the BYMT put together including bringing seven shows together across the UK. All the pupils involved thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and took much away from the experience. Well done to all the pupils involved!
