King's Bruton staff are sending out toiletries, nappies and baby equipment for the people of Ukraine...

Having been made aware of a lorry that is leaving Yeovil for the Polish/Ukrainian border this Friday 4th March, I sent out a late night appeal to staff to bring in the required goods of toiletries, baby equipment and nappies for me to transport to my local Polish shop in Gillingham, by Wednesday evening.

As I write this, the goods will be making their way from Gillingham to Yeovil, before being driven to Poland, accompanied by Ana (with me in the photograph below, whom I have known for several years) and her friend Laura.

Due to the short timescale, I did not widen the appeal to pupils, but some of our pupils heard about it anyway, and were soon having a whip round for spare toiletries and sanitary wear. Staff were generous in the extreme and brought in toiletries, baby equipment and nappies - the required items for this consignment.

We all want to do our bit, during this horrific time, and I shall be finding ways in which the wider school community can support the people of Ukraine.
