The boarders enjoyed some high octane racing at Haynes...

Thirty of our boarders enjoyed a trip to Go Karting at Haynes on Sunday afternoon.

After Rev Bev and Mr Keogh had demonstrated a few high-speed driving tricks with the minibuses on the journey to Haynes (joking) the pupils were pumped for some serious racing! Upon arrival the pupils were split into four groups and each given a briefing, before they kitted up and buckled up for some high-octane, high-speed racing! The light rain in the morning had made the track that little bit more exciting, allowing for some superb skidding around the chicanes and hairpin bends. Each group had two racing sessions and it was clear that the second session saw drivers really burn through their fuel as they sought to overtake and out-speed one another. Indeed, there were several impressive overtakes - sometimes with barely an inch between the sides of the karts. Special mention must go to Ollie from the 5^th Form in Blackford House who attained the fastest time (by two hundredths of a second)! Our thanks to the School’s catering staff who provided some cans of drink and snacks to keep the racers sugar levels up. It was nice to round the outing off with a brief visit to McDonald’s before heading back to King’s.
