Announcing our new Deputy Head (Teaching & Learning) is Dr Emily Corrigan...

I am delighted to inform you that Dr Emily Corrigan has been appointed Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning), with effect from 5th January 2022, when she will join the Senior Management Team (SMT). Emily’s current post of Assistant Head of 6th Form will be discontinued, and the main roles of this post will be incorporated into the Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) job description. Emily will continue as a Wellesley Tutor for the rest of this academic year only.

The main roles of the Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) will be:

  • Responsibility for the Monday afternoon 6th Form Enrichment Programme
  • Overseeing and leading the support of 6th Form pupils applying to selective universities
  • Organising the L6th Form Careers Convention
  • Organising the Essay Society
  • Supporting the Deputy Head (6th Form) in the processing of university applications
  • Responsibility for all aspects of the teaching staff appraisal system, and ensuring that teaching staff appraisal is fit for purpose
  • Acting as Educational Visits Coordinator, and managing the administration (including risk assessments) for all school trips and visits
  • Sharing responsibility for discipline and investigations with the other Deputy Heads, as requested by the Headmaster
  • Attending weekly SMT meetings
  • Undertaking SMT supper duties and Saturday evening duties on a rota basis with other members of the SMT (excluding the Bursar), as arranged by the Deputy Head

The Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) role will be further developed once Emily’s timetable is reduced in September 2022.

I am sure that you will want to join me in wishing Emily all the very best in this important senior role at King’s.

Ian Wilmshurst - Headmaster
