The first day back to school has been a great success

Life at King's #KingsSpirit

King’s did not really re-open today, 8th March, but rather we started to re-open with the return of pupils on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as we rolled out the lateral flow testing regime.

It became very apparent that, although the pupils were understandably nervous about taking their test, they were all very excited about returning to school and to be amongst their friends and teachers again. This positivity made the testing more straightforward than I expected, and, today Monday 8th March, we re-opened the School with lessons and games in year group bubbles in the afternoon.

The sun has shone all day, and although the weather has been quite chilly, there is a definite feeling of warmth and optimism across the School community. Pupils have taken to wearing face coverings in lessons in their stride, while teachers have enjoyed the face to face contact that has been sorely missed in remote lessons.

We are all very conscious that most of our overseas boarders will not return until the summer term, but everyone is looking forward to normal school returning as quickly as possible.

Today’s return to school has certainly been a great success.
