Governors past and present were joined by the Heads and Senior Staff of Hazlegrove and King’s Bruton to mark the retirement of Anthony Palmer as Senior Warden after 5 years in the chair.
During his tenure both schools have gone from strength to strength and saw, first the opening of the Fitzjames Teaching and Learning Centre at Hazlegrove in 2014, followed by the new Music School opened by Her Majesty the Queen in this the Foundation’s 500th year.
Guests were entertained by an outstanding performance by Stephen Marquiss playing Chopin’s Ballade No.1 in G Minor followed by a brilliant rendition by the King’s Jazz Sextet. The pupils’ delivery of Song for My Father and Work Song was hugely appreciated by the audience.
The Senior Warden will be much missed right across both schools, but in Stephen Edlmann, he has secured an outstanding successor to guide us into our next 500 years.
