This afternoon, in Chapel Assembly, we were delighted to welcome Luke Simon, founder of School in a Bag (SiaB).
"Luke’s presentation to the school today was powerful and informative, illustrating clearly why School in the Bag is such an important and relevant charity for the school to support." Ian Wilmshurst - Headmaster
School in a Bag was founded after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, where Luke tragically lost his older brother, Piers; we learned of the charity’s journey from 2004 to now, when - to date - the charity has delivered 126,649 bags to children across the globe!
Having started, in earnest, with our fundraising for the King's Bruton School in a Bag Ukrainian Crisis Appeal, Luke was able to tell us about two of SiaB’s partners ‘Te Aud Romania’ and ‘The Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline’ who will be distributing bags to children fleeing Ukraine. Luke’s presentation was a real inspiration to us all, and will keep us motivated to continue our fundraising efforts, for the children of Ukraine.
The Houses are putting on various fundraising events for pupils including: an Easter Egg Hunt, Bake Sale, a Fête, Dodgeball, sponsored walk/run/cycle and a concert is planned for next term.
Each rucksack costs £20.00 and so far we have raised around £4000.
