Biotechnologist, human rights lawyer, equine physiotherapist, investment manager and environmental engineer - these are just a few of the positions that pupils were interviewed for in this year’s U6th Form Interview Scheme.
The modern interview style, accelerated by current Covid-19 restrictions, is for early rounds to frequently be carried out virtually and therefore the King’s U6th Form Mock Interview Scheme this year successfully transferred to a remote video platform.
Ahead of likely internship, university, apprenticeship and job interviews, the King’s programme of interview training and practice provides a key element in the School’s careers and employability programme, preparing pupils for their futures.
On Saturday, twenty-one parental interviewers kindly gave their Saturday mornings to help enhance the career prospects of the U6th Form. Pupils experienced one or two virtual, live interviews each, followed by feedback discussions with the interviewers. It was a nerve-wracking experience for many pupils, most of whom had never been interviewed by a stranger. However, nerves soon settled and the pupils impressed seasoned interviewers with their calm, clear and reflective answers. The pupils gained an excellent grounding in communication skills, as well as confidence for their future interviews.
A huge thank you to the interviewers for giving the time and experience for the benefit of others.
